About the Role:

Seeking a Monterrey based, Development Engineer Supervisor with a proven track record of executing in rapid-paced, dynamic environments.  The ideal candidate will have experience in Unibasic / PICK, and VB.NET.  Must be able to work both as a team member, designing, developing, and deploying application components as well as lead large, multi-faceted projects.  The position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as flexibility, creativity, initiative, and attention to detail. 

As an experienced Development Team Leader, whilst being highly technical and hands-on capable, you will lead development projects. Managing the successful delivery of projects will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. Working closely with other team leaders you will ensure the structured and coordinated planning of your team’s development. Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required being able to support and assist developers at code level. The job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Senior Product Development Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Product Development Supervisor include:

  • Set objectives for the PD team and track progress.
  • Assigns and prioritizes work tasks.
  • Mentor and support product developers, review deliverables and provide performance feedback.
  • Identify and address staff training and development needs.
  • Track progress and prepare reports to managers
  • Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
  • Working closely with Senior Product Development Manager to produce accurate delivery estimates from analysis through to design and delivery
  • Provide regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with Senior Product Development Manager to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues
  • Define delivery phases of the project including activities, sub-activities, and milestones ensuring these are documented and used as the basis for the project event log, issues and risk log and any subsequent reporting
  • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
  • Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design,
  • develop, test, and maintain business applications.
  • Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, estimates and work plans.
  • Prepare documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.
  • Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code.
  • Work with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current Microsoft technologies.
  • Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
  • Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • 7+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge.
    • Required Technical Experience:
      • Windows forms design
      • Integrating third party controls
      • Visual Studio and VSS
      • Multi-Value database structure and design
      • Basic UNIX commands
  • 2+ years managing and developing employees.
  • 2+ years of specialized/industry experience. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience with software development life-cycle including requirements gathering, design, development, and maintenance
  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer in Windows client application development
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing .NET applications (VB.NET preferred, C# possible substitute)
