Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting

About the Role:

The Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting will set the direction for a team with responsibility for external financial reporting, evaluation and enhancement of accounting policies, review and decisioning of material financial transactions, interpreting new accounting pronouncements and regulations, and effectively manage interactions and communications with other corporate functions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Performs Technical Accounting consultations on various topics including stock-based compensation, software capitalization, purchase accounting, divestitures, derivatives and hedging, etc.
  • Analyzes contracts or agreements as needed to determine accounting treatment for recording and reporting
  • Coordinates with external auditors on requests and reviews during quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Leads special projects and provides ad hoc business reports, as needed
  • Manages certain monthly account reconciliations for technical balance sheet accounts
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal control policies and procedures
  • Works to enhance the internal controls over accounting processes and systems
  • Involved in accounting policy training across the organization
  • Supervises senior and staff accountants
  • Continually strives to develop talent within the accounting organization to promote associate retention and meet current and future business needs
  • Mentors and manages the accounting functions to facilitate associate engagement and professional development
  • Oversees with hiring, training, and development of staff

What You Need to Succeed:

  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • 2+ years managing and developing employees
  • 3+ years public accounting experience, preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree preferred
  • CPA License, preferred

Additional Skills That Could Set You Apart:

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, very strong technical accounting skills, and up-to-date knowledge of the latest accounting standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to anticipate questions and perspectives and provide timely and well thought out answers
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience with multi-company and multi-location environment
  • Experience with international accounting, including multi-currency translations
  • Hands-on experience with fully integrated accounting system, preferred
  • Systems experience including Wdesk (Workiva) and MS Office (particularly Excel)
  • Must have the ability to work independently and be resourceful
  • Deadline-oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and instill a sense of urgency
  • Proven record of process improvement and streamlining functions
  • Experience in developing and managing professional staff
  • Strong team building skills
  • Team player adept at building relationships across the organization
