Role Summary/Purpose:

The Distribution Software division of Epicor Software is seeking ambitious and highly-motivated Pre-Sales/Solutions Engineer. Ideal candidates must have strong interpersonal and technical skills to be successful in this role. You will be part of a driving force in setting Epicor apart from the competition. Candidates primary role is to assist the lumber (Building Material) sales team in closing key new accounts primarily through the planning and performance of on-site and internet based customized value-driven sales demonstrations. Candidates with experience in the lumber building supply industry will be highly considered for this role.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate the sales demonstration

  • Customize demos to fit the specific opportunity

  • Support the creating of “value based selling” tool

  • Gather specific data to re-create specific processes to follow a script

  • Technical/application/product support to the sales team

  • Assist in preparing written responses for RFP's, RFI's and unsolicited proposals in relation to the application content

  • Assess product fit in client’s operation

  • Conduct internal product training

  • Act as a liaison between the sales team and other departments in the company

  • Assist in designing sales and productivity tools

  • Participate in pre-sales and prospecting activities

  • Other duties as required by the Sales Engineer, Manager


  • Knowledge in Lumber/DIY/Home Improvement markets

  • Industry experience selling, supporting or using Business Management software

  • Experience in retail consulting: system evaluation, RFP preparation, best practices.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work well in a Team Selling environment

  • Ability to travel 60-70% of the time.

  • Ability to make high impact sales presentations to large groups

  • Ability to setup and function from a home-based office
